Learn more about How to Declare!

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to be part of your HumBio journey! I chose Human Biology because of its interdisciplinary nature and the sense of ownership it provides over your education. I understand that the declaration process can be daunting, but I'm here to help guide you through it! Whether you need support finding courses, faculty advisors, or general resources, please reach out! More specifically, feel free to talk to me further about the Brain and Behavior concentration, being premed, making the most of campus resources, or navigating career transitions. Outside of HumBio, I serve as a Seeds of Change leader at Stanford and work in Dr. McNerney’s Neuro lab. In my free time, I love heading up to San Francisco and restaurant hopping!

Hi, all! I’m Aiyanna and it’s such an honor to be one of your SA’s this year. I’m a fifth-year senior from Long Beach, CA (ask me about my gap year!). My concentration, Child Health Equity, is inspired by Stanford Medicine’s Office of Child Health Equity, which works to promote health justice for mothers and children. As an aspiring pediatrician, I’m passionate about the right of every child to achieve their best possible health status and educational attainment in the face of racism and poverty. Some of my favorite classes have been Social Environmental Determinants of Health and the REACH Health Equity Seminar, both of which are Cardinal Courses. I’m happy to share more about how impactful those service-learning experiences were and how you can find Cardinal Courses that deepen your own studies. I’m currently working on a community-based honors thesis in partnership with Ecumenical Hunger Program in East Palo Alto. I love hearing about students’ research; please stop by and tell me all about yours!

I spend my free time laughing (loudly) with my family, sending my friends absurd Instagram reels, trying new foodie spots, and volunteering with the Stanford Housing Equity Project. I truly love this department and our amazing HumBio community and I’m so excited to help you on your academic journey!

Hello and welcome, everyone! My name is Kayla, and I am beyond excited to be one of the student advisors for HumBio this year. I am pursuing a B.S. in Human Biology with a concentration in The Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Across the Lifecourse, while also minoring in Education under the Teaching & Learning subfield. I was born and raised in a low-income area of Long Island, NY, where I lived with my mom and dad and discovered my passion for health and education equity. These passions continue to drive my academic and extracurricular pursuits, including my role as a pre-clinical volunteer at Stanford’s Cardinal Free Clinic and as co-lead of the Community Support Team at the Black Community Services Center. When I’m not working, you can find me studying with friends at the FLISSC, sampling the weekly flavors at Crumbl, working up a sweat at SoulCycle or Rumble Boxing, or catching up on my favorite reality shows! I’m incredibly grateful for the people I've met and the opportunities I’ve explored through HumBio, and I can’t wait to support you all in your own HumBio journeys!

Hey everyone! My name is Sofia, and I’m so happy to be one of your HumBio SA’s this year. I’m a senior from Hewlett, NY and Im concentrating in Global Public Health and Anatomy, and I’m also completing a Coterm in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. I’m very passionate about global health and immigrant health advocacy, an interest that’s rooted in being a daughter of two immigrant parents, from Colombia and Ecuador. This past summer I went to Oaxaca on the BOSP Community Health in Oaxaca trip, and last summer I went to Cape Town through BOSP and I learned a lot about the healthcare system in both Oaxaca and Cape Town, and hope to share what I learned there with my classmates and the other communities that I belong to on campus! I hope to continue immersing myself in learning experiences that can enrich my knowledge of global health and all of its intersections, so that as a future doctor, I can provide the most culturally competent care possible for patients.

Outside of HumBio, I am very excited to be one of the Directors of my acapella group, Stanford Talisman, and continue as the Co-Vice President of the Global Health Student Council! I also am excited to continue as a Spanish Interpreter for Cardinal Free Clinics, and will continue working on recruitment for Stanford Habla! I’m so excited to meet all of you and learn about your interests!

Hi everyone! My name is Angelica Ramirez and I am sooo excited to work with you all as a student advisor this year! I’m a senior from Chicago, IL pursuing a B.S. in Human Biology with a concentration in The Biosocial Basis of Human Disease. I am super passionate about understanding health from a holistic perspective, focusing on how both social and biological factors influence well-being. I also have a deep interest in cancer biology, having conducted both clinical and biological research in this field. Currently, I continue to explore these passions as a pre-clinical volunteer at Stanford’s Cardinal Free Clinics, and through previous experiences with diverse communities like my time studying abroad in Cape Town.

Beyond academics, you can often find me exploring new coffee shops, going on a hot girl walk to a good podcast or cozying up with a romcom. Please feel free to chat with me about anything and everything, and I look forward to meeting you all soon!
