Hey HumBio! My name is Clarissa (she/her) and I am ecstatic to be one of your SAs this year! I am a senior originally from Placentia, CA and am currently concentrating my HumBio studies in Anatomy and Physiology. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities that the HumBio major provides, including taking a variety of courses in different fields that can still be applicable to my major. As an aspiring physical therapist, I truly believe this major has allowed me to gain a complex understanding of the human body both physically and mentally – key topics for pursuing physical therapy. I am also minoring in Spanish, not only to finally embrace my ½ Hispanic origins and communicate with my grandparents, but also to prepare for working with Spanish-speaking populations as a physical therapist.
Outside of academics, I am the coach for Stanford’s Club Swim Team and recreational swim classes and private lessons, and a lead VPTL HumBio tutor. In prior years, I volunteered with a variety of rehabilitation clinics, including Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, and was a member of Testimony Christian A Cappella for two years. I also studied abroad in Madrid spring of 2019, and while there had the opportunity to work with orthopedic surgeons and even assist in a knee replacement surgery – an experience I would love to share if anyone is at all interested in doing the same! I love spending my free time swimming laps at AOERC, exploring new restaurants, and hiking. I can’t wait to get to know you and guide you through the HumBio major. Feel free to stop by the SA office anytime!
