Join us in giving a HUGE congratulations to Derek Waldeck '20, who was just selected by FC Dallas in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft!

"Stanford senior midfielder Derek Waldeck was picked 66th overall in the third round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by F.C. Dallas on Monday.

Waldeck, a human biology major out of Santa Clarita, completed a four-year career on The Farm that included six goals and 22 assists in 89 appearances. During his tenure, Stanford captured two national championships in three College Cup appearances to go with consecutive Pac-12 titles from 2016-18.

'When I think of Derek, I think of someone with an amazing personality and an even better work rate,' said Cardinal coach Jeremy Gunn. 'No matter the task at hand, Derek was someone who always gave everything he had for the program. Derek always put the team before himself and is the perfect example of the kind of student-athlete we look for at Stanford.'

Waldeck earned United Soccer Coaches All-West Region first team honors as well as a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team, guiding Stanford to its seventh College Cup appearance and fourth in the last five seasons. He joins teammate Tanner Beason, who was selected 12th overall in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes." - Palo Alto Online
