Bill Durham wins H&S Dean's Award for Lifetime Achievements in Teaching

William Durham, Bing Professor in Human Biology, Emeritus has received the 2017-18 Humanities and Sciences Dean's Award for Lifetime Achievements in Teaching. 

Prof. Durham's teaching in the Human Biology Core spans five decades. Durham is a natural story teller, whose lectures present a cliff-hanging narrative, and lead students to formulate their own questions and hypotheses. He makes a clear inextricable link between biology and culture, and has inspired generations of students to major in Human Biology. Alumni worldwide remember his engaging lactose lectures. He cares deeply about learning, and is exemplary in his kind, patient and encouraging advising.
